In Episode 7 we are encouraged to take the time to fully appreciate being in the moment and the benefits that mindful living can bring not only for ourselves, but also for those we connect with.
Hi  I’m Urban Sundvall and I’d like to welcome everyone to Episode 7 in the renamed “Be Inspired Series”  so that we can all learn to be inspired to use our minds  and our heart on a daily basis. To inspire ourselves for a better life.
These ‘bite sized’ episodes are designed to easily chew them over, to gain clarity in what it means & How large the value of apply it In Your life is, for You.
I wrote something a while ago that I’d like to explore a bit further.
“Taking time to savour life moment by moment is something many believe to take effort in practice and yet, may instead be a practice in effortlessness and open hearted joy...”
Urban Sundvall
Isn’t it interesting that through our efforts to make life better what we are sometimes doing, is adding unnecessary pressure by overthinking and overdoing and therefore creating over-negative emotional experiences. Often perhaps doing so in ways that take us away from the simplicity of just having the sense of being in the moment and savouring it, for whatever it brings.
How often do you manage to give your full attention to appreciate the place you are in, the person you are with?
Even perhaps full attention to the opportunities that become available as you do. Just because you do take that moment.
That appreciative moment to see what can be seen, hear what can be heard and feel what you can.
The next things I’ll write/talk about  are expressed with intention of wanting to help open eyes and minds to better ways. Bear in mind it has zero criticism content. So please do accept it the way it’s intended.
I find it curious that in all the years of working with individuals, and yes that has included myself, that those of us who most need to embrace ‘taking the time’ to be in the moment are often the ones who are so busy ‘trying’ to create a great life, that all those wonderful opportunities are partially or even completely bypassed.
The real danger, of letting those moments one pass by, is not that one could have felt better in that moment, even though that is really very important. It’s actually the long term effects of not having taken the opportunity to build those better relationships, with both others and oneself.
I have worked with many clients in their later years who have come to realise that.
Certainly the time spent in working away from their home environment, to earn extra money for their family, paid great dividends in their standard of living. Even sometimes ensuring their children had better educational opportunities.
It is however, the very fabric, the quality, of the family relationships that these clients tell me they feel has in some ways been lacking. I can personally agree with that, as our father worked away a lot when my siblings and I were young, which made later communication somewhat more difficult.
Please understand that in these clients and my view our parents were kind and caring people, it’s just the layers of built up close ‘in the moment’ contact that was missing at crucial times.
The long term effects, often, though not always, can have generational significance. What I mean is that, because children learn more from what they see than from what they hear, behavioural habits establish. In my case I was, as a young father, far too much an absent one, not because of working away but because of working too many hours. It was also the same for those clients I mentioned.
Again remember zero criticism intended here. Instead it is about  saying that if your life circumstances dictates that you have to work away, just really make sure that you are fully present when home.
Even in other circumstances, which take your attention away from any present moment, it is about a discovery that it is actually easier to learn the habit of having the sense of being in the moment and savouring it, for whatever it brings.
Especially with the people important to you and your life.
Its just about stopping (Pause) and taking note of what your senses are bringing you, sights, sounds and touch. Even tastes and smells.
Therefore taking you away from both past and future thinking. As you allow yourself to connect with those sensory experiences it becomes easier to connect with the people you are with and where you are. Therefore easy to just be in the moment, especially as you let yourself see more, hear more feel more, taste and smell more...
It is also interesting that smells so easily bypass thought by building new neural pathways, as you connect all those sensory experiences with being present in where you are and who is present . What also happens is those pathways become more established in memory because of the multi-sensory experience.
So is Mindfulness Meditation of value? Absolutely!
And yet is taking the Actions of mindfull living that has the most influence on the people the people we choose to be fully with.
So make not only your life better, also the lives of those you take those opportunities to be fully with.
This is Urban Sundvall at urbanhypnotherapy.com.au and I’ll bring you another episode soon to  continue this ongoing  Conversation about Inspiration
Remember:
Let yourself “Be Inspired” on a daily basis to enjoy a better daily life experience!! Just because you can use your mind in the right way to do so
